Reformers tout traffic court | Bangkok Post: news

The national reform committee on judicial procedure proposed setting up a traffic court separate from the Criminal Court and penalising traffic offenders in proportion to their income. The traffic court was part of a plan on judicial procedure reform raised by the panel during the cabinet meeting. As a result, the traffic court would consider imposing fines on motorists in line with their personal income while other punitive measures would be adjusted to suit each offender, he said. With lawsuits, plaintiffs and defendants can currently submit documents with the court via an electronic programme, called e-Filing, he said. Meanwhile, Benchawan Srangnitra, president of a reform committee on national administration, yesterday said the panel also proposed speeding up state services and human resource management in state agencies.
